## To God

First and above all — thanks be to God, who gets all the glory. Every good idea, every working line of code, every quiet moment of clarity — it all comes from Him.

## Open source

A quiet thank you to the maintainers of the open source projects that help make portions of bin.md — and most of the modern internet — possible. We depend on your work every day, often without even knowing your names. You keep the whole thing running, usually in your spare time, for no pay and little recognition. This service quite literally would not exist without you.

## Ideas and inspiration

Thanks also to the friends, colleagues, strangers, and passers-by who have shaped bin.md through conversations, feedback, questions, half-remembered blog posts, offhand suggestions, and the occasional "why doesn't it just…" — directly or indirectly, deliberately or not. A lot of what bin.md is came from listening to people who were generous enough to think out loud.

A few specific ideas and products we borrowed and built on:

- **[Obsidian](https://obsidian.md/)** — our favorite editor for a long time now, and one we happily pay for. Fast, local-first, endlessly extensible, and beautifully opinionated in all the right places. Obsidian finally brought order to decades of scattered `.txt` files, half-finished notes, and "I'll organize this someday" folders — turning a lifetime of plain-text chaos into something we could actually navigate and build on. It's no accident bin.md integrates with it.
- **[Font Awesome](https://fontawesome.com/) & [Web Awesome](https://webawesome.com/)** — longtime fanboys. Their icon and component work sets the bar we keep chasing, and shows up throughout bin.md's UI and rendering.
- **[Obsidian-bible-reference](https://github.com/tim-hub/obsidian-bible-reference)** — the inspiration for our Bible shorthand tool. A clean, unobtrusive way to reference scripture inline that we adapted for the bin.md editor and renderer.
- **`copy con`, `edlin`, `vi`, and every editor since** — for teaching generations of us that "writing to a file" can be as simple as pointing a stream at a name and pressing Ctrl+Z. (And yes, some of us still can't figure out how to exit `vi`.)
